Hi all

When parked up my freelander leaves a water patch. I've had a look underneath and the tray under the engine has a circular whole in the middle of the tray. Does anyone know what it is?

Cheers and thanks for looking

if youve had it switched on tray can be unbolted ,buts not water proof ,you will maybe see sump plug through hole

Blimey, I remember taking my first car with air con (Pug 406) back to the dealers for that "problem" in 1997!

Every car I've had since has done exactly the same thing ;)

Thats because it works by freezing then cooling the air, then heats up and condensation drips onto ground.

i thought that cooling the air condenses water out of it the more humid aday the more water is condensed out

The relatively cold (below the dewpoint) evaporator coil condenses water vapour from the processed air (much like an ice-cold drink will condense water on the outside of a glass), sending the water to a drain

a bit like when you have a portable air conditioner at home. Sometimes you have to open up the plug and drain off the water. The freelander is doing the same thing but with no plug to pull out, it just goes over the driveway instead!!!!
