Its MOT this week and all the blerdy warning lights have come on today, first just TC and ABS and now the hill descent is on too. the full set!

So will the tester fail it for this?

( i'm a wagon driver and you're in deep **** if VOSA catch ya with a ABS warning light on)
if its not a fail i can **** about with it at my leisure.

Cheers, lots of love xxxxxx

TC & HDC isn't but if ABS doesn't follow correct sequence then it's a fail. so taking Bulb out won't help.

I see what you mean
they'll do the brake test on the rolling road and if the anti lock works it'll be ok.
they won't just just fail it for the warning light then?

oh Roooobish.
I wish it could've waited a week
OK mate thanks for that.
I'll be off to throw rope up the loft now then.
farewell cruel world.

ABS doest work at rolling road speed, ABS light on is a fail im afraid, its also a fail if it doesn't come on.

U could try to erase the fault code and if the warning came on due to the wheel bearing(hub) as most commonly used to(fault will be on one of the ABS sensors in this case) the warning lights might not come back for a while...at least untill u pass the MOT.....maybe u are lucky......if the fault is from the modulator or from somewhere else then the lights will come back immediately.

My ABS light stays on until I drive off, then its goes off after a few seconds, and mine did pass the MOT like this.

Seein as ABS isnt required to stop the vehicle can one remove the fuse and disable it. After all ABS used to be an extra on a new car.

When a tester prints off the check sheet it tells him how the ABS light is supposed to function, if when he drove into workshop the light went out and didn't come back on he may have been satisfied that it was working ok.

You didn't say what model (at least, I didn't see it). On my TD5 resetting the system would usually work for a week or two before it went again. Problem was the SLABS ecu (early ones tend to fail and need upgrading).

Several things, if ABS is fitted to a vehicle then it can not be disabled to pass an MOT, if it was never fitted then it is ok not to be there (if you see what i mean)
Also it will fail if the light doesnt come on and then go off after starting (Nissan 200sx owners have been known to wire the light on the dash to the oil pressure switch, that way it will come on and go off on starting when oil pressure comes up)
But on a more usefull note, I had the same problem took it to have the codes read and apart from the fact I had taken all the fuses and relays out to check so all thoes codes were there but a voltage drop code was there which was what the garage said had probably upset it in the first place.
they reset all the codes with a view to seeing what came up next and nothing did, all lights stay off and ABS etc works perfectly, so may be as simple as a code reset!!
