My landies due a doe in the coming week and i think the test is pretty much the same as the uk mot so i was wondering if you have electric seats fitted, do they have to be wired up and working. I.e do they have to move?

Every mot I've been to, the tester always pages the seat right back because i have short legs! Series seats don't move at all so I'm sure you'll be fine

I dont think it will be a problem unless you get some hair brained tester who comes up with some sort of a safety hazzard scenario. It always depends on the tester. There is a tester in Clondalkin who hates Land Rovers and will hang off you truck with a crow bar just looking for an excuse to fail you. Story has it that he missed something on a Land Rover once that later caused over 50k worth of damage in an accident and it all came back on him.

The seats must be secured in such a way that they do not fly forward in the event of a sudden stop, which includes the rear of the seat lifting.
This is why the older seats have a pair of short bars which drops into restraints on each side of the frame, and also has a couplpe of short rods which locate into holes in the rear of the seat frame
