And at some point next year I am hoping to get you to build me a cage...

@ 1.21 that looks like an arm hanging out of the back.. were there people in the back ?

Thanks for posting that video and it puts it into perspective... The hill didnt seem too bad but as is always the way..

Its a leg
Watched this clip ages ago and one of the comments claimed to be from the driver. Said he had no belt on and got chucked around but no serious injuries???
Apparently the front screen pillar collapsed and if he had been belted he would have had a flat gooey head.

Interesting :)

I have seen your rear cross members and have read the feedback etc from people on here, so i would be interested in a quote as well.

Can you post some pictures of your cage designs?

Rough price for a full 90 cage?

Thanks

That is why I don't like the 'fender, there is a reason they can't sell them in the US. They failed every rollover test they have. Even those with the factory fit cages only got through by the skin of their teeth. They aren't safe to use on the road without a cage. Offroad, it is your own funeral.

Oh right that would be why NAS on a defender stands for North American Spec, then. Of course you only call em that if you were selling em to the russian

Some people dun't arf talk some ****e.

What bollox. You have to be doing something really daft to roll a standard Defender on the road. I have had mine leaning over way past 30 degrees on a side slope without any drama at all. It is only on modified Defenders with poorly done suspension lifts that you have any problems on the road. Even off road I have never had any scares.

Absolute bollox.

If you stick a reckless fool behind the controls an aeroplane, they stand a good chance of ending up as mincemeat.

Solution = if you are a reckless oaf, stay away from the controls of aeroplanes. Everyone else is green to go.

Just because cars these days are built to be as pratfall-lemming-proof as possible doesn't mean that everyone on the road is therefore a witless oaf. It just means that natural selection is being interfered with and that the daft are then able to breed. This is bad.

Yeah, for 3 or 4 years in the early 90s. Since they every other marquee has made strides to improve the safety of their vehicles. Landy decided "meh, just don't sell it where it needs to be safe." I've been in two 'Fenders that fell over, both were lifted as is the norm (never been in an unmolested example), but both suffered quite large roof displacement. I'd rather not take the risk for the cost of a few hundred quid for a cage.

I think you will find that most Defenders have not been lifted, the lifted ones are the minority. You were unlucky to be in a vehicle with someone that: A) Doesn't know how to do a lift mod correctly & B) Doesn't know how to drive a badly lifted Defender.
