Hi there,

I have long looked at all Land Rovers with envy and now may just take the plunge on a Disco 1 that needs some TLC to get it back on the road.

So, just thought I'd introduce myself and say 'Hi'.

Other hobbies are gliding and motorboats.

Rob

What kind of TLC? A hug and a polish of the headlights, or a new rear floor, inner wings, head gasket and clutch?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

The possible purchase is a '93 Disco1 200Tdi, needs a new O/S wing and door, 106k miles with no history:doh:

Was a Class C write off (BER) so as well as the above work, I need to factor in transport costs to/from Stoke-Derby for VIC etc

Inner wings/sills OK, floor had some previous welding but sound, engine clean and sweet, no sun roof:rolleyes:

700 quid:)

I'll be going to look at it on Tuesday if it's still available.

You can get a fully running MOT'd disco for that. I'd walk away if it needs that. Or offer him £300. Also, even if it's cat C, i think you have to get some paperwork done on it?

Thanks for the Heads up peeps but where should I be looking to get my first Disco for that kind of money?

I scour LRM/LRO/LRI and they are all top dollar prices as I'd expect but even the local Autotrader has similar prices and less choice.

Advice greatly received.

A mate of mine recently bought a 96 Disco for £350, the ignition barrel was ripped out after someone tried to nick it & it needed a tyre. Lovely it was, he sold it to another mate after he sorted it for £700.

They can be found, mostly by word of mouth with other LR owners.

DO IT i did and didnt lookback went on to get a 90 and then moved away from the 4x4 scene but no regrets BET IM BACK 1 DAY
