Hi guys

So I've been looking through the forums and have learnt I would be better off getting a new steering box for my project and my best option would be to get an adwest one.

Two things if I may, I have read that for my 200tdi chassis and engine it won't matter if I get a 4 or 6 bolt one, as I have a six bolt one at the moment I think I will do the exchange and get another six bolt one, but if I struggle to find a six bolt one can I use the four bolt one?

And can anyone recommend a supplier where to get it from? I sourced one that said it was adwest but then when I read the description it was Britpart.. there is a lot of controversy of the Britpart and as I have not really used there stuff before I can't judge. I just want to get the best I can so everything I put on will last and will be money well spent.

Many thanks

Britpart don't make them, they recondition them , I even doubt they do that. But yeah, britpart steering box, I wouldn't.
Just buy a second hand one, providing it isn't adjusted to within an inch of its life (most wont be) and its not leaking its fit and forget.

Thanks for that, I know it might sound a bit stupid but there is nothing wrong with mine to be fair, I just want a new one as I don't want to be sticking old parts on my new chassis. I know it's not cost effective etc but I'm doing this out of love not to make money

If there's nothing wrong with it clean it and give it the love it deserves ...

You'll learn a Landy bit that works and is not giving any trouble, is a thing to be admired ...and dare I say cherished ...

Tell me that in a years time when I'm cursing leaving it in, no Im not taking any chances, anything that moves or has potential of leaks will be replaced

In answer to your original question - yes, see here . I've not used them so don't know if they do new / recon or whatever. Let us know how you get on.

Unfortunately a new or recon box could leak in year or two, it only takes an hr to swap out so if it ant broke don't change ! clean and reuse
