Recently saw on Facebook that people had used dishwasher cleaner in there coolant anyone done this and did it improve

yeah it'll contain lots of salt.

depends on how bad your system is. is it's rotten then some possible corrosion would be better than a load of stinky gunk.

if your system is that bad though then you might end up finding a few leaks after.

I've tried this, it works wonders - in dishwashers!!

If it opens up any leaks in your cooling system, you could always crack a few eggs into it.

Ive hear people put washing poweder in there old oil before a change and it cleans all the gunk off.... Just sayin?

Bit off topic but have used the dishwasher to clean motorbike parts, went down a treat with the mrs :D

I did that once. The next day I left the Machine Mart catalogue open on the coffee table at the parts washers page.

I love my parts washer. They even printed my quote next to it in the catalogue :)

I thought this was a topic related to cleaning parts in the dishwasher before I opened it.

The parts come out great by the way - don't ask me how I know. ;)

Use CocaCola to clean your internal!

+ 1 but make sure it's genuine CC not it's serious rival!
I freed-off a seized engine that had been standing for over five years by filling the bores with CC, a week later I could turn the engine over on the starting handle :clap2:

 Can you imagine what it does to your guts then?

i agree with the coke for cleaning certain stuff, i use it mainly on motorcycle jets that have blocked after been sitting for a while

I also have a dishwasher in the garage running on water based degreasant, i have the 25L drum on top with the return going in the top, the supply going from about 4" above the bottom of the drum so theres some sediment area if any, that thyen goes to a pond pump which goes into the supply port of dishwasher, all in all a pretty handy heated parts washer, dishwasher was £10 off gumtree, pump was £8 of ebay + degreaser was £19 for 25l of concentrated which i diluted

On topic i have known many people putting a dishwasher tablet in the cooling system for a day then flushing next day

its a very common practice at work to use dishwasher fluid to flush out the cooling system of a truck that has had a oil cooler failure
it sometimes takes weeks of flushing and running round to get them clean
