Rear seat on my 1995 Discovery has two 3 point belts and a lap belt on centre seat. Having three 3 point belts would be ideal. Looking at some threads on this topic I haven't seen any mention of putting the rear seat from a Discovery 2 into a Discovery 1, so I assume it's impossible or very difficult. Does anyone know if this actually is the case?

Cheers

The D1 doesn't have the secure mounting point for a third retractable rear seat belt. It has nothing to do with fitting a D2 rear seat.

I'm sure you're right, but I wonder if you could just make that a bit clearer. I'm guessing the Discovery 1 has two mounting points for the lap belt and I thought the actual inertia reel was fixed onto the seat back of the Discovery 2 seat. Is it that the lap belt fixings are not strong enough, or does the inertia reel need another fixing beside the seat back, or am I overlooking something else that's fairly obvious.

Cheers

dicso 2 seats buckle to a recessed u bolt in the boot floor, disco 1 seats just sit flat against the floor. I doubt you will be able to convert them.

as discool says, I would imagine this is due to the middle 3 point seatbelt needing a secure anchor as it is an integrated part of the seat. Which in turn probably bolts through to a tie rod to the chassis.

I think you're on a lost cause unless you do a serious body modifiaction

Thanks for that, it sounds like it would be a very involved job, certainly beyond my capabilities. It'll just be a case of relying on the lap belt I think.

That's an interesting thought, the boot floor is getting a bit rusty around the edges, I might have a look and see where the extra seat fixing would go.

Hi the diference is that disco 1 rearset locks in place at the top of the backrest wheras the disco 2 with the integral centre 3 point seat belt locks into the floor by means of catches on the seat base
I am curreently looking for an anchor bar for the rear seat i have fitted in my disco commercial if any one is breaking a Disco 2
