Hi guy looking for help on my disco
its a 96 v8 with lpg
parked up one night all fine went out next day no start
traced back to idnition module beside coil changed that still no spark checked coil and replaced with new 1 changed dizzy cap and rotar arm still no spark
there seems to be power to all the right places even tried direct feed from battery and to coil and to distributor still wont start or spark
ht leads etc are all brand new
has to 2 buttom alarm but its all ok.
is there a relay that could be the cause
all fuses are ok

1) DON'T KEEP CRANKING IT IF IT'S NOT FIRING. I mention this from bitter experience-It's the way to fe*k the catalytic converters.

2)Possibly it is the immobiliser spider. There is good link somewhere in here about how to get to it (it's right under the centre dash on top of the heater). You can then either resolder all the dry joints, or buy a £6.50 plug from LR, use it instead of the spider, and Hey Presto. Worked on mine after weeks of trying to find the fault.

A possible clue-does it restart if you let it cool down? Does it start if you click the alarm set a few times?

no it wont start full stop. does the spider not stop the starter spinning? it was fine then the next day nothing.
im pretty sure the spiders ok cause ive got power at coil starter etc. i was maybe thinking of a relay or something. driving me nuts now lol

Forget LPG, get it running on petrol first.

Take a plug out and see if fuel spray comes out - then you know it's getting fuel.

Then check igntion timing, also crank over and hold a test lamp across the coil LTs, make sure it's pulsing.

And report back :)

On mine it would crank but not fire, and on other occasions neither. When it did crank, it would show a spark at the plug cap, but it is inadequate to spark the fuel when under compression!

Anyway, try everything else, but remember this if/when all else fails.
Good Luck!!

getting a perfect pulse between coil lt's
getting plenty of fuel spray
