Ive just bought a 2000 TD5 and im wondering whats the best and cheapest way to tune these beasts? Im up in Newcastle Upon Tyne is there anybody nearby that can be trusted to remap ECU? Also does anybody do a lowering suspension kit as im rarely going to be doing any serious off roading.

Durham 4x4 do TD5Alive remaps, which are expensive but well thought of.

Not sure I see the point in lowering it.

Mike from Dynachip is also good. He turns up at your house or work. Had my 2001 td5 disco done and the difference is huge

You're gonna need a new ecu at a guess. I rekon your ECU will start with MSB. If it starts with NNN then yer ok. NNN ECU's are from 2002 onwards. I have a feeling that the chip can be removed and a flashable one added instead. You'll have to do a bit of research.

When he done mine he had an ecu with the new chip already in and exchanged it for my one, easier to solder at his place than faff about on site.

Fair play. I just thought I'd mention that it isn't always just a case of a quick plug in and away you go.

Does fitting a cat replacement pipe, silencer replacement pipe and blanking EGR valve help increase power?

Blanking the egr won't make any power difference as long as the egr was working ok when blanked.

My landy came with no cat as it had a pto shaft fittted for the winch from new so I can't make a comparison. listening to others I'd say yes it does make a difference having it de-catted.

Stick a screwdriver in the airbags that will lower it why the **** would you want it lowered?
