Hi all, be gental with me, this is my first time on here and need HELP!!
My Discovery TD5 has a strange fault in that the central locking won't unlock the tailgate but does opperate the rear wiper for about a quarter of a stroke, this happens with the remote and the manual central locking switch. All doors lock ok and has been like this since I bought the car, just fed up climbing over rear seats to unlock the tail gate now!!

Hi sounds like possible water ingress to the wiring harness, remove the door card and check harness, D2 suffers from faults with the rear door lock which usually results in replacing the operating solenoid, it sounds as though the short burst to the wiper is a short from the supply to the door lock, pull the card off and have a look, D2 also suffers from broken springs in the lock assembly.
