I have a question I would appreciate members thoughts on.
Currently I have a 2003 Facelift Discovery S2 on 112K miles. Good original

condition with no outstanding faults. I have owned the vehicle for 10 years, do all my own repairs and maintenance and find it ideal for my life style. It sits outside, has had the usual S2 issues sorted and (for a Land Rover) is reasonaby reliable.
However I hanker for a newer Discovery model, the S4, maybe 2015/16 and as such would appreciate forum members thoughts regarding the S4 against the S2 and whether they would change if the opportunity arose. Aso what are the issues on the S4 regarding reliability, ease of mantenance running cost etc
Thanks in anticipation.

Just set aside a repair budget: about 15000 UKP should be fine.

Then don't touch that money and use a separate maintenance budget for repairs and servicing - probably only a handful of thousands per year. That way you can use the first budget to fix it when it REALLY breaks...

Having siad that... I'd consider one as our family long-trip car... if I could find a Supercharged Petrol that was in budget.

Thank you both kindly for your advise. It looks like I would be a fool to consider a S4, Shame.
OK lets look at this a different way: Does anyone have any views what they would replace this S2 with. Please dont say another S2
I was thinking Sogun, Ranger, Audi Q7, BMW etc?
