HI all just had MOT done all good apart from advisor Propshaft bearing has slight play ( RUBBER DETERIORATED) called in the local 4x4 garage and they recommend that it would pay just to change the whole shaft any advice and thoughts
I would not have known there was any issue as there is no noise or anything else

No mention of which prop shaft so "rubber...." probably is a reference to the rubber coupling of the rear shaft. In which case, you will need to look for part #TVF100010. Prop shaft itself is most likely fine.

Ive binned everyone of these donuts, I do the 300tdi 4 bolt flange conversion. Shame you wernt norf of the
boarder, ive got a new donut in my parts collection, think ive got 2 new props somewhere to. lol

Thanks for that I will call back into the garage and find out which rubber they are referring to Part is cheap enough if it is for the rear shaft is it a big job to replace ?
So would you say not to go ahead and replace the full shaft

Which Discovery do you have? Propshaft bearing sounds like D3/4, the rubber donut mentioned above is D1/2.

Wonder if they mean the centre bearing ?

If not here are the part numbers for the front and rear , indeed ask them to verify which bearing exactly they mean

Have heard it’s best to go with a GKN Propshaft, however I’m pretty sure the only rubber is on the centre bearing

Front

Rear

Hope this helps
