Hi all, does anybody know how to tell if a seat has already been fitted with heating pads without having to remove and strip it (vehicle is a Discovery GS--53 plate).
Theres plenty of wiring under the seats and one loom (thinnish wires inside a yellow cover seems to disappear into the seat base!
Yours in anticipation, John.

There are a few machines at my place of work (quarry) with heated seats and by eck, they're reet grand, need a crowbar to get the operators out of them!

these are probably fer yer seat belt warning light... heaters really need thick wire to carry the current. not that i know how much current heated seat take just going by yer basic lectrics

Hi JTL,
My 2002 gs has heated front seats, I think they are fitted as standard, though not sure. The dead giveaway are the heated seat switches on the centre consul (with the window switches). The heaters are fed from a 20 amp fuse in the passenger side fuse box which feeds both seats. Fuse 15.
The wire is light green with a white trace and ends up at the seat as a light blue with grey trace and then into a solid red wire to the element.
(according to the 2003 circuit diagram).
Hope this helps!
Nothing like a warm backside on a cold winters morning :D

Thanks RichardJG, mine unfortunately does'nt have heated seats as standard. But after reading a thread posted by KZYCNN in Nov' 95 where he stated that some Discoveries had the heating elements pre fitted but not wired up (just requiring the switches, relay and new panel) i was rather hoping (wishfull thinking) that mine was one of them. I will have a thorough check tomorrow though!
Thanks again, John.

Hi Mantamad, thanks for the info'. Had a good look under my seats today-definately not got heating pads fitted.
John.
