will a discovery gearbox fit into a defender 300tdi? yes i know the actual location of the gear stick will be different where it comes through the tunnel

but would the rear prop shaft from the defender 300tdi still fit?
is the gearbox mountings the same?

Will fit just need a Ashcroft gear stick adapter
Chopz
sorry for the questions but i am buliding a project wagon for off roading
so a discovery gearbox will mate directly to a 300tdi engine
and i dont have to shorten the rear prop shaft? i dont think i need to worry about this as the gearboxes are the same over all length?
the gear shift sits further back on a discovery box which is what i would like and use a short shift gear stick

Hi yes
Same length
The only difference I can remember is the gear stick
You can fit a defender gear stick with the adapter from Ashcroft

They have longer input shafts on the discovery gearboxs and longer bell housings so would probably need different props

300tdi defender has the same length bell housing and input shaft as discovery
200tdi lt77 has the short bell housing

It will fit yes, it will bolt directly to the engine and your existing mounts. You wont need new props.
If you use the disco gear sticks they’ll be further back, so you’ll need to cut into your seatbox.
You can use your defender gear sticks by getting the adapter from ashcrofts.
