1989 started the 200 TDI, though, right?

That auction still has two days left, Curious to see how high it sells for..

It would be a lot easier if someone on here, had one for sale. Much easier to work with someone, VS an Ebay auction when I'm so far away.
Exactly! You're fishing in a small pond.................... I know you're not happy with the V8 at the moment but I reckon more V8 CSW's survived............................... of course private sale on here would be best and hopefully something will come up but keep an eye on Ebay UK as I reckon it's the best measure of prices. Good luck,

also depends on how strict US customs are, and if they'll notice mods.

might be hard pushed to find a 100% non modded 25 year old tdi ;)

changing the engine for one on your side of the pond sounds a better plan to me :)

We only had the defender for a few years in the mid 90s, and those go for 50+k and only v8

I love these 110s!
Have you ever actually driven one for any distance/time?
Unless you are of very small build you would get out at the end of your journey feeling very "crumpled", we borrowed a mates Deef 130 ute to transport some building materials 350 klm home, so pleased I only had to drive one way, absolutely tortuous.
Like your original idea, stick with the Disco.

No more cramped than a disco!

Could not agree with that statement, my Disco is at least as comfortable as my old '77 RR Classic was ............unless of course the Defenders imported into the US are different, (except for which side you drive), to the ones everywhere else in the world.
The drivers position, even at full available seat adjustment, is designed for small people with an amputated at he shoulder right/left arm, depending on right or left hand drive, ok for short trips but for a "road trip" type holiday.........nah!

Are disco are very cramped. If you're over 5' 10" it's a tricky fit. The space for your knee are terrible and same with height for your head.

The range classics provide more space here.

Much the same for both, I've never had an issue with either, perhaps it's down to the 8 way electric seats my RRc and disco had/has so plenty of adjustment.

Yeah you might be right.

I would go either way, but obviously purchasing a whole vehicle would be easier and probably end up costing me the same at this point.
