Hi guys, I own a P reg County Discovery that is my pride and joy, but for the last 4 weeks the battery is getting so drained that the car won't start after its left for 2-3 days. I have had a new:

Alternator
Battery
Hot Plugs
Steering Motor
the Cruise control fixed.
New Stereo and Speakers and Parrot Hands Free.
Cam Belt and modifier

outstanding is the passenger side door doesn't open properly as the door lock on the panel drops down.

I've taken in to Mills 4x4 who fitted the new battery and alternator.
this brought no joy, still had the problem.

Took it to a so called electrical place to have it fixed, he said that the alternator was not fully charging the battery also not using the starter motor to its full capacity? so that was done £107, the car started easier WHEN it started as I STILL have the same problem, took the car back still didn't have a clue.

disconnected the heater plug relay just in case, didn't help.
tonight I disconnected the negative off the battery to see if its definably
that something is draining the battery.

Please please can someone, anyone point me in the right direction, has anyone had this before.

Hi Mad Hat, thanks for responding, Im not a gifted kinda guy when its comes to cars sorry, what do you mean, is this a becm/ecu type problem?
 
Hi peoples, just to let you know the problem has been fixed, took it into Mills 4x4 and moaned alot, fair play to John he found it,

said the problem was:-

On the County the wiring is different, behind the glove box there was a relay, they didn't know what the relay was for, but took it out, it fixed the problem,
However I now cant move my diff lock, whether or not this is connected or not I have no idea? humpf

Have you fitted a "hands free kit" recently, that was draining mine & my son's, I now unplug it from the cigar lighter, when I am not actually using it, seems to have done the trick for both of us!
 
u could try fault find it using voltmeter in ohm position and take live wire off the battery and attach it to the black wire from voltmeter and then attach the red wire from voltmeter to battery etc and then this way. u can find the drain etc get someone to take each fuse out and u standing by the battery and see if the needle moves on the voltmeter when the fuse is taken out etc cos when the voltmeter moves that is problem and u can idendify the what that fuse is for. if no reaction put fuse back in and do another fuse etc . but it does sound lik ecu problem. my friend has this same problem and it was found after five months etc. hope this helps
 
Have you checked the glove compartment light, it would draws enough amps to flatten your battery, and you can't see it when it's shut

I had a similar problem some years ago on my RR classic.The way found the fault was I removed a use on an eveing and re fitted it the next morning. did this every eveing and on the 4th day fitted fuse and it started no problem. by removing the fuse i isolated the circuit which was shorting out checked wiring carryout the relative repair was fine afterwards.dont plll the fuse to the immobiliser.
worth a try at least you may find which electrical cicuit giving you the problem.
