My 15 plate Discovery is due a cam belt change, it’s not done the mileage , 44000 on the clock , but is 8 years old , is there more than one belt that needs doing at this stage, is it a body off job, and what would you pay for an independent Land Rover garage to do the job.
Thanks.

would be a good idea to get the fuel pump timing belt replaced at the same time , both belts can be done without removing the body, should include tensioners and tensioner bolts

indeed good call getting them changed seeing it’s 112k or 7 x years which ever comes first

Wouldn’t of thought it being more than £1500 for both to be done , personally whilst it’s apart would add an oil pump, water pump and aux belts, along with engine oil and filter , mainly for peace of mind, max price would be I imagine 2k

reason I also mention engine oil and filter is they can see if there’s any signs of metal in the filter

fuel pump belt is more involved than the D3 as it’s timed and more items have to be removed

Hope that helps

Thank you for that information, I will copy this down and put it to the garage and see what they price it all up at. Thanks again.

My mate will do both belts front and rear £450, he checks your oil pump to see if its had the upgraded type fitted at the factory or not.

hi mate

blimey that’s a brilliant price for a D4 , think I paid around £850 some 5 x years ago , but included front and rear belts, tensioners , aux belt , water pump, oil pump, new crank seal , antifreeze

I have just emailed the job for a quote to my local independent, let’s see what comes back, where about is your mate located at biketeacherdave.
Thanks
