Hi all I have had a quote for both batteries to be changed on my 64 plate discovery 4 firstly the quote is for £396 and this includes fitting. Secondly does the discovery need programming after new batteries are fitted. Thirdly can i do the batteries myself and does it need reprogramming. Thanks for looking

Can't answer, but recently Which (I believe) did a battery replacement comparison for main agents vs aftermarket.. Mercedes came out worst - 600 to 1200 and Halfords came out well - around £300 if i recall. This was for fitting so it would inlcude reprogramming. I would get a few more quotes. I fit my own batteries, but you need to be very sure you can reset or bypass the alarm and immobilser before you disconnect anything.

yeah that is my worry that i wont be able to do the reprogramming i went to a dealership and they quoted me £180 +vat just to look at it

If you've got a D4 you will need to reset the battery monitor system to tell it that there's a new battery otherwise it could over charge it thinking it's still the old one.
