Hi, After running a L322 for 5 years I can definitely confirm it is by far the better vehicle. Much as I love the Discovery the idea of having to take the body off to change a turbo is ridiculous. The Discovery is a seriously heavy vehicle and the 2.7 engine just isn't up to it. With well documented problems with seized arms and handbrake problems and broken crankshaft the Range Rover has to be the better bet.
I had the TD6 engine in my Rangie and in all honesty I wouldn't have another, the V8 diesel (post 2006) is a far better engine, smooth powerful and refined with the petrol's being even nicer if you have deep pockets. The earlier model (Diesel) suffers with premature gearbox failure from 70k and air suspension maladies are common, a decent diagnostic system is a must have. Save your pennies for a little longer and get a facelifted V8 Diesel vogue (£13k ish) you wont regret it. Hoping to get mine Saturday.
