I think my front diff is faulty from the noise it makes!!!
Does anyone know where I can get a refurbished one from?
Cheers

Symptoms ?

Ive never heard of a broken front diff but the wheel bearings wear out or fail quite often

A diff would be £££££££

I have replaced both front wheel bearings with genuine ones.
There is transmission noise up front when driving and hell of a drone when you are decelerating, including braking. Can feel the vibrations too.

i've had a fubar'd diff once(just that it was rear and it's a D2;))... for the D3 diff there is an overhaul kit, google out DOK007 , by new it's quite expensive and i didnt find reconditioned ones

Ok sounds like diff unless its the front drive shafts but I assume you checked them at the same time as doing the bearings ?

Front diff ooverhauled today, all new bearings fitted and the noise and rumbling has completely gone! Big happy face!!!

Hi Davedisco2

I am thinking of overhauling my front diff. I am wondering whether you managed to find new shims, or if they weren't required.

Many thanks

Adam

There is some info but no idea how to set pre load or end float, i just dont get why there isnt any info on them on the net!
James Martin on here would probably know! I have sent him a pm but not had a reply yet, he may probably know!
There is a site called Topix which landrover and jaguar use for everything but it costs a fortune to access the info!
