Hi. Appols if this one has come up before...

I have made many mistakes in life, too many children being one of them. They need entertaining on long journeys, and I have a cheap strap-on DVD system which helps.

Obviously better to have proper roof mounted/built in, but the cost for genuine Landrover solution is awe inspiring (circa £2k with fitting).

It needs a special roof pod due to slanting roof, so fitting an off-the-shelf DIY one into the existing light panel is not straightforward due to viewing angle, space available etc.

Too early for the second hand market/ebay.

Anyone know of a solution?

Cheers

Andrew

Can they not be built into the back of the headrests? I have seen this mod on other car types, and I believe it is a straightforward DIY job, using privately purchased 7" LCD monitors.

I guess you have already considered (and discounted) the £140 2 screen set from Halfords? Not quite as asthetically pleasing as a fitted set, as they loop over the headrests, but if budget is a consideration, they would be my choice.

Can't they play eye spy and batter eachother like kids used to? Endless hours of tv will take away their imaginations and turn them into morons.

same problem with kids Rosen are bespoke headrest screen for front seats or you could get fitted rear dvd /tv tuner check out caraudio4less

I got one with DVDS already in! Problem solved :D mind its an old knacker compaired to a nice shiney new one....

I'd have thought they were essential to keep the kids entertained while you wait for the AA - given the reliability of a D3.

Trouble is it drives me fooking bonkers every time you turn the igniation off it re-sets the DVD to start from the begining, so i have to climb in the back find were the DVD was before i stopped it... little ones are still little and cant do it themselves... Mind saying that when i first got the disco i couldnt find were to the put the DVD my 5 year girl had to show me!!! :D

Depending how much work you wanna put in. Look at a carputer. You can get 8" screens for not much. Get a mini pc under one of the seats and a VGA splitter. Bobs ya uncle you got as many videos as you want. Music storage and it will remember where you left ya movie.
