I thought I would get rid of SAI as my disco is now a manual and it now has the ecu from the prefacelift non Sai disco.
Reasonably straight forward to do. Once the ECU is swapped over it's just a case of remove the SAI hardware.
You will either have to change heads so they don't have the SAI ports or plug the ports with something. For now, I went plugging the ports. For this I cut the top threads off of the original inserts, drilled out the middle so I could slide an M10 bolt in there and then welded round the underside of the bolt head to the insert. I plan to build an engine for it soon so I will get the correct heads.
Everything works well no warning light etc. I do have one question for anyone that knows or who has a pre facelift discovery 2 v8.
The question is where the vacuum lines are on the plenum you have the the stub where the feed for the SAI was. I know I probably have to plug it but wonder if it serves a different purpose on the pre facelift models. Anybody out there know?
