Just got myself my first Land Rover, gone for a pre facelift Discovery 2 TD5 everything is stock with 140K on the clock. What suggestions do you have to increase the BHP and the MPG? Nothing drastic, just a little increases here and there.

No such thing exists!!

You can't add power and MPG, impossible!!

My TD5 with Celtic tune does 23mpg.

Costs £110 to fill too..

Removing all the seats, and the spare wheel, all tools, and never ever carrying anything onboard....might.....just possibly might....increase mpg by 1/2 mile/gallon. Best I can do I'm afraid. :p

Hahaha, to be fair I’m only really interested in extra performance . I’ve actually been impressed with my MPG so far, It’s way better than my old Pajero.

A Map usually needs supporting upgrades Turbo/intercooler etc etc

stage 1 is ok..

Pulls better.

No V8 though

If you want better power and economy.................... Buy something that isn't a 2+ ton 4x4.:p

No they are better ;)

Speak to Empire Tuning, Alive, IRB, BAS

Id go for Empire as they as also sell the massive Airtec intercoolers and the largest Hybrid turbo on the market.

Prepare your wallet though its not cheap!

A search will reveal more info on this subject than you could imagine. Obvious things are delete the EGR, install a performance intercooler, remove the cat (if it had one) and put in a straight through exhaust pipe (through I refitted the centre box as the droning noise was not worth the tiny benefit). Then get the ECU remapped by someone like Empire, Storm Tuning or Alive. Just make sure that the engine is in good nick first otherwise it is all a waste of time. In particular make sure the cooling system is sound, that the turbo is not worn, that there is no loss of boost and that the MAP and MAF sensors are clean and working properly.
