Hi all,

Ive got a 2000 W Reg Discovery 2 TD5. Really loving driving it and it seems to be the best 4x4 Ive driven!

Slight problem though, Ive noticed its becoming harder to engage 4th and assumed this was down to the clutch. Then I noticed that the gearstick isnt centering itself, it just leans to the left all the time. So trying to engage 3rd & 4th can be tricky as you're not quite sure where to put the stick.

Can this be fixed or is this even un-usual? Ive got the center console out and I'm down the riveted cover, but unsure what to do next. Is there a spring which centers the stick that may have snapped?

Thanks, Alan

Hi

The lug on the bias plate that the springs push against has snapped. You need a new bias plate for about a fiver or so. Once you get the rivited cover off your juat about there.

Once you have the new one in, drive about some to make sure the plate is adjusted right for the 2 -> 3 change. The plate might need moved some either way. I just made sure it was right sitting on the drive which wasn't good enough. I had to strip it all down and re-adjust.

Cheers

Andy
