Thanks for the advice, I just can't help thinking why both at the same time? If I take them out, Are they activated by 12v and if removed could I apply 12v and listen for the click or see it actuate if removed from the box? Appreciate all the help.

Also, just if you know, why is there 2 solenoid s and don't suppose you know why one is THT000020 and one THT000010.

there is a section of wiring within the valve block which you'll see just when you remove it, maybe that wiring is interrupted

THT000020 are two of them and are shift controll MV 1 & 2

THT000010 is only one lockup solenoid valve MV3

as you've got fault on solenoids 1 and 2 they are the first type... remove the valve block and see that wiring to them...you can see it in the attachment i previously posted about the solenoid replacement

Mine was doing exactly the same as yours .Took it to a friend of mine and he simply removed the block from the side of the gearbox and gave it a thorough flush out with wd40 and replaced it, checked the gear selection on the computer. and let me try it. It worked ok and just now and then it starts flashing on cold start up. it was the reverse that was the fault on on it.

do you mean you've got solenoid fault codes on tester? ...cos i doubt that a XYZ switch flush with WD40 would fix that:rolleyes:

I don't know what these things are called on the side of the box, but all I know is that it came on when trying to pull away and cut the power down so it would hardly move. I found that if I stopped the engine and re-started, the 2 green lights would stay off and the power was back. it was happening all the time, so I took it to Patricks and he took the thin box of the side of the
gearbox and flushed it out thoroughly, replaced it and checked the gear selection on the computer and it worked.

Anyone know zf parts company in the uk? Have found some of the parts in addition to the above solenoid s,

ZF Part no 1043 227 016

Loom.

Just for future reference that is referred to as the XYZ switch and controls the gear selection and dashboard lights.

Hi still on the gearbox challenge, are the solenoids and internal gearbox wiring loom the same on the v8 as the td5. Can get a cheap v8 box and could strip out the solenoids and loom. £200

Hi,
Yes I gathered the removing sump part, wanted to know if the loom and solenoids are the same before shelling out on the v8 box.

Correct sir, transmission ecu. Don't suppose anyone has a drawing for this part of the loom to the transmission ecu. I would be willing to check this first, then the service, then the transmission ecu, lastly gbox replacement.

Well I got one small problem the car start in any gear and don't want run and the loom or wirring is new what can be?
