Ps what compression readings should i be seeing ?300/350?

these would be good as the compression ratio is 19.5 : 1 (for Bar) so as 1Bar = 14.696 Psi assuming that the ambient pressure is 1Bar the ideal compression in IDEAL environment would be around 286 Psi.

Nice info ..right after a compression test going on clyinder 1 nearist the fan .only shows 85
I removed all glow plugs incasehead gasket had blow accross
No 2 260
No 3 265
No 4 263
I assume no 5 will be ok due running fine on the four clyinders.
Ive also noticed ( hernce why it was auctioned off ) the clyinder head has recently been removed
Ie recent headgasket.skim and bolts .also its had a egr kit removed ( may it have possibly been remaped ?)
After head was removed i turned engine piston is sat a good 6 mm down bore ..
I can only assume water in bore from recent headgasket which was changed .bore looks ok
What other causes con rods bending..

Often fuel rather than coolant, from a hosing injector. You will probably never find out exactly what happened.Like mine, yours was "repaired" by someone who didnt know, didnt care - or was told to slap it back together.
Good luck with the rebuild, may I suggest you contact Frida at Turner engineering for the parts when you know what you need, their prices are very fair considering the quality of what they supply. And they use them in their own builds too.Not cheap to do,mine needed an oil pump which is £300 ish, there is no way to make the job viable for a customer.I only bothered as it was my own car,tis a time hungry job.... Shame,I enjoy engine builds.

Cheers pal for the helpfull info .im assuming with 88k on clock .maybe gaskets bolts and conrod ill refit a full set of big ends due to no1 conrod .(hopefully cranks ok..)ive removed a mirror file of the ecu and see if i can compaire it ..cheers
