Nothing done today sadly. Other than finding a supplier of 6mm sticky neoprene in town so I can make up my own gaskets.

Got in late tonight as I went to pick up my new rifle from the gunsmiths after some nice modification work. So I suppose all was not bad!! But that's another story...

When I took over ownership the roof only had slight fade on the roof. So it got worse with a couple of summers. So maybe did have previous rubbing issues that started it off? Just looks weird how its gone in certain locations. The areas behond the front sunroof would also not get touched if anything wa sup there due to the raised rear section. Just magic maybe??

Tarpaulin you say? There are actually two in the shots. The one higher up is on my lift and close to the Landrover, thats a Mk1 RS1600 that I am currently rebuilding the straight cut gearbox on. The white rims you see a glimps of on the ground is a Mk2 Mexico racecar that I am building with YB Cosworth engine. Keeps me off the streets!!

Cheers

I'm drooling at the mere mention of those two cars. From Fords glory days that are sadly gone.:(

Yes I must admit to being a bit of an Escort nut! I have owned one in some shape or form for the last 28 years! At one point I had 7 as a record atthe same time, but normally have at least the same two I have had for many years now. These two cars have been to New Zealand and back to UK twice now! But again, thats another story!

I could post a picture of each, but the keyboard nazis might shoot me down! ;)

Post them in Anything Goes

I used to be a big fan of Avengers and Sunbeams

I am a slack arse me! I only just refitted the sunroofs this week! I did the hose test and water came pouring in through the front roof in the back left corner and through the clip that holds the roller blind in place??

On closer inspection the rear of the glass was not sealing down properly and found that the left runner had jumped off its connectors and the whole thing was loose. Nightmare!

I had gutter sealed the top outside roof frame sin place do carefully removed the lower drip tray again and managed to unscrew and remove the left side roof runner from the glass and the frame.

With much sweating (its almost summer here) and swearing I managed to get it back together and sat right. But the glass was still sat proud!

I refitted the motor hoping to pull the window tight and found that nothing was working. Over the months f being taped up both motors had seized internally. Gutted!!

Anyway, after a bit of trial and error I managed to pull the motors apart and strip them down to individual internal parts. I gave everything a good clean up and removed the rust and scale and put it all back together again. Success, they both now work!!!

Refitted the motors and pushed the close button and hey presto both roof seal are now water tight and I'm happy!!

So one Discovery is now sat on the drive for the first time since September! I will refit the headlining and put everything back together tomorrow after work.

Sorted!!!
