The heated rear window of my 2003 Discovery 2 hasn't worked since I bought it last year. I can see where the element has a break but because the outer glass has been badly scratched and scored the best thing to do is to replace the entire back window.

I remember reading that the only panel carried over from Discovery 1 to Discovery 2 was the rear door and I've got a complete but MOT failed 1996 Discovery 300tdi I bought for it's good engine.

Does anybody know, please, whether the heated rear window glass is the same in a Discovery 1 and 2?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the reply.

The window is held in place with an old fashioned rubber seal and not bonded,

The rear window of a D1 is held in the same way.

Thank you - I hope that this will be of use to other D2 owners as well.

Remember that a 1996 disco doesn't have a high level brake light so doesn't have the glass fixings for the standard LR fitting, also the heated element design is a different shape in that area.

Also the early D1s, (200TDi types) have their heated window element terminals both in the same corner ...

the later D1s, (300TDi types) have there terminals at opposite corners ...
