Hello All,

I have been pulling people out in the snow - and now i can not move the vehcial under its own power. i can put the shiffter in to each gear with the clutch down a little bit of force - but when i let the clutch out it just revs and doesnt move, does anyone know what could be wrong with it/how to fix it.
it does have CDL so dont know if that is anything to do with it at all.

Have you tried different positions of the different lock (cdl) and low range lever ?

Mine jumped out of high range once and left me in transfer box neutral once before I worked out what had happened.

Earlier I had using Low range & it obviously wasn't fully engaged when I went back into High Range

PS Post edited to remove all the dead lines now I've got access again !

Yes I have tried it in low and high - but maybe I should check the CDL - its one of the ones you have to get under with a 10mm - could it be the CDL that is in neutral?

Hi, the cdl can be locked or unlocked from the spigot it doesnt have a neutral position which ca stop the movement of the vehicle, if the transfer box is not in neutral and you can see the cable actuating betwen high and low but the vehicle doesnt move i'm affraid that it's something catastrophic

Yes ok - I had wondered if it might be something more - when ever it tries to move it just stinks of burning clutch - I'm guessing it will be more than something stuck of neutral. - by catastrophic what do you think it could be?

If you put it in diff lock and it moves its something broke in or to 1 of the axles.

If it doesn't move it certainly stinks of burnt out clutch;). But its better to know than guess:)

Either engine out or gearbox out, for a clutch I would do gearbox out route:).

Yep had one jump out of Hi into neutral on me once too. but that was in an auto.
And did someone fall asleep with their finger on the return key?

All, apologies, my post was the 1st response & the one with loads of dead lines in it.
Something seemed to go wrong with the forum on my Android phone & it just threw me out & wouldn't allow me to edit it on the phone.
I've only just managed to edit the post on my laptop.
Very weird !

Ref the OP's problem :
If you'd tried in High & Low range & it makes no difference, it does sound like the clutch.
Very early in my D2 experience my wife had the clutch plate centre break up while she was driving - leaving the car with no drive. When it was taken out, the clutch plate hub had totally broken away from the section with the springs in it.
My brother changed the clutch for me. He always removes the gearbox to get access, not the engine. He has a good transmission jack !
