I'd forget servicing it, until you have seen the full extent of the rust ..... as @resto_d1 said in post #35 - that could be a big repair.... ( though, here's hoping it's just surface sh*t looking cr@p )

SWMBO's had gone just forward of that, on both sides   - due to a drain hole being blocked, and far too small....

After reading posts on this thread about rust and rot I was a bit worried today. Anyway after a thorough check all round chassis I can safely say that my pic in post 34 are the only 2 places in whole lot, apart from a small one coming up through rear floor in back corner, forgot to get pic will do tomorrow.
The rest of chassis is Really Good only surface rust and mud, was quite surprised and Pleased at how good it actually is even all along the top and sides.
Sorry for all the pics, I have more later of engine and interior.
First pic is the 2 holes.

Doesn’t look to bad from pics - fingers crossed. That section by the shock mount isn’t too bad - you need to cut either side of crush tubes and weld in new. Had to do same on mine.
Good luck with Kermit

Thanks Mate. Just guessing well Hoping it will be OK till after the winter then will get it welded up. It has 10 months MOT on it now.

Fixed Indicators just a Fuse blown, :) thought it was going to be something technical, Im no good at electrics.
I think the Oil Leak is coming from the top on Rocker cover, well I'm hoping its just that, I've got a new seal waiting to go on my Defender rebuild but will use it on Disco.
Will try and get all filters and oil change including both diffs at the weekend, then swap Insurance over and get it on the road. First call is garage for good Jet Wash, will do engine as well.
What's the best way to get at Oil filter to change. ? Looking at it tonight think it might be more accessible from underneath.

From underneath is my preference - I drop the filter into a 2L ice cream tub to contain the mess, and then lower the tub out .... I've become quite adept at balancing the tub on the front axle whilst the filter is loosened...

Cheers Mate, The fuel filter just screws on doesn't it ?

Yep :) should be the same as quite a few MF tractors - and often cheaper at a MF dealer o_O .... but there you go

Did I notice it has no anti roll bars ? if so, I'd mention it to your insurers ..... or maybe get some and fit them :)

1) because farmers are tight ;)

2) they sell quite a lot of them !! - I'll get you the MF part number in a bit.....

Thanks Mate, I Meant about the Anti roll Barrs  Sorry

No probs :) .....

Cos it probably had them from new - and therefore them not being there is a modification - and ins co's "like" to have a way out should the worst happen - and a non declared modification might be used against you ...
( bar steward ins co's  )

Thanks, Will look in to it. Was going to put some on Defender but everyone I asked said not to bother

Couldn’t you argue that you int a mechanic and you have no idea wot an anti roll bar is, or whether the car car has been modded in any way obvious???
