Hi there, I have bought a 3door disco 1 and i have taken the wheel arch liners off and the front wing have found that it has quite a lot of corrosion to the front wheel arches extending to the footwells.

Does anyone know the best way to repair this and whether it is something I can do or someone who is neat with a welder? :) :)

If you want someone to do the welding for you, it might help if you tell us where you are.

Thanks for your advice guys will order some panels and get welding :):):) has anyone done this before? It seems quite a comman problem :) :) :)

Probably anyone who has ever had a Discovery 1 has done this before, usually at the same time they do the rear arches and the boot floor. :D

Yes lots of us have needed to do just this, I made my own panels for the front but as stated yrm make good repair sections. Take alook at my project thread it will give you some pointers as to how to repair it.

What causes the rot here in the first place ? Not much point patching it up unless you know?

It's the little pink rotfairies that live in the battery.

That and coupled with the fact that you drive it.

Cheers Neil, I have a small patch of rot on the inside of mine and wanted to know how to prevent as well as fix

Rip off the plastic and throw away. Clean rust off treat and paint with a good paint like por15 then give it a good coat of underseal.

Unless you have a snorkle, ripping out the plastic liner, will leave the opening to the airbox exposed to any mud/muck thrown up and you will end up with lots of crap in the air filter.

I speak from experience :)

Couldn't figure out why my fuel consumption suddenly got worse, until I checked airfilter and it was caked with mud.
