Looking at taking the body off my disco to clean paint new fuel lines break lines and body lift, if i was to lift it off with the interior all still in and all doors still on, any one got a rough idea of its weight so i know how many favours i need to call in

Hmm thats pretty heavy may have to offer BBQ and beer at mine then! or find a friend with some sorta Crain

Weighed in my 5 door rotted body completely striped no doors, seats, dash completely bare and that was around 450 kg's

Okay looking like i may have to come up with a better way to get the body off :/ , 4 high lift jacks then roll the chassis from under neath ?

Jack the chassis up and support body so chassis can be pulled from underneath.

Undo body from chassis

Let jack down, let tyres almost down

Push chassis from under body

Make tea:)

should be hard todo i got a disco 3door shell and chassis with doors bonnet boot 'in a luton transit van . 1 engine hoist 1 ratchet strap.

Thank you all for this information. I'm revamping my 1991 model Disco preface lift redoing every thing possible to get it as good as new. First engen and gearbox removal then stripping everything out and off. Then to lift the body from the chassis.

would this Genie lift do the job

I did something similar, but used an engine crane to lift each end alternately. It is surprising how high you need to go to allow chassis to roll clear. A health & safety nightmare!!

:)

yes I agree you will need to install some sort of support from side to side to take the body and allow you to remove the lifting system you decide to use
