I finally got round to fitting the water temp sensor for the gauge.

I bought a brass bleed screw so that I could tap a 1/8 NPT thread in it to mount the sensor.

Tools - Centre punch, 1/8 NTP tap, 8.5mm drill bit.

Punched the hole, not quite in the centre - Nevermind it isn't meant to look pretty anyway!

Fitted the sensor into the thread with PTFE tape - wire ran from the gauge through the firewall and routed up to the sensor.

@fozt ...Got one of these digital coolant temperature gauges installed on mine. Seems to work alright until any electrical load such as headlights, blower or even turn signals are turned on, at which time the readout would spike. Example, say temp readout is 70 degrees, turn on the blower or the headlights, and the readout immediately goes up to 93 degrees. Did I miss something in the installation or is it an issue with the earthing? Thanks mate and keep up the good work.

I forgot to mention this - I have the exact same issue myself. I haven't got to the bottom of it yet. I've tried earthing it, but it just causes it to stay at a low temperature and it doesn't move.

I will have another go this weekend and let you know how I get on...

Tried to sort my gauge over this weekend - Unfortunately I cannot work out what's causing it. I've tried different sources for earth, different power sauces, direct from battery etc. Still no luck.

The only thing I can think of now, is perhaps the engine earth is no good, since the sensor uses the engine as it's earth. Or, I have a faulty gauge or sensor.

Three reasons and all valid :( fortunately one doesn't need a crystal ball to find out, just a bit of wire and a multimeter :)

You're right, I'm just being lazy (and I need to find my multimeter) - a job for another day :)
 
Another small update.

My indicators haven't self canceled after turning since I've owned the vehicle - I bought a new cancel ring thing about 10 months ago, which I had lost. But I found it today :)

So basically, steering wheel off and this is on the underside.

In the above picture you can see that either side of the shaft there is a small piece of plastic that has broken off, these little pieces would usually make contact with the pieces sticking up either side of the shaft in the below picture, to cancel the indicators.

It's quite nice having self cancelling indicators, it's the little things.

I also haven't had a working radio in the Disco for about a year - and many months ago I bought this splitter, which splits the CB antenna so it can run the CB radio and the normal radio. Finally fitted that, too. Surprisingly it works very well.

It's been a while since I posted an update.

These updates are all quite old (and minor), but here they are nonetheless.

I fitted some amber lights into my front grille - it was like they were made to fit in the gaps in the grille!

I just stuck them in place with a bit of glue.

Like last year, I slept in my Disco for the "War and Peace revival" at Paddock Wood. I put some insulation on my rear sunroof and the window things on the roof. The idea was to block out light, with the added bonus of being insulation for the night.

Last year I slept on a blow up bed. But this year I had better ideas - I bought 6 inches of memory foam, cut it to shape and stuffed it in the back of the Disco. I put another topper on top for good measure!

I can lay normally, no bent knees! It is snug though. I'm 5"9 - I just about fit, any taller would be a bit too snug!

Head to the rear and feet towards the seats with them pushed forward all the way.

Cheers, your same height as me. I see you have no rear door pocket on, so if I make a bed wide enough to sleep slightly cross over I should be ok by the look/sound of it
