I like the neat position for the camera. Can you post a pic of the screen view from the cam are a position. I have one of those cameras mounted above the tow bar for hitching the trailer and the night vision camera mounted above cantre of the rear door. The night vision camera colour definition is not as good as the small camera so I am thinkIng of changing to another small camare

I took the Disco off-roading today at CuddyMunts in Faversham.

Couple of pictures, and a video below - most of the video shows the inside view followed by the outside view of the same section. You can see the reversing camera screen in some of the footage too.

Awesome project mate! Been reading through this with my spare time at work, loads of work gone into this really enjoyed reading through it!

I'm from Kent too so would be good to meet up at Cuddymunts and some byways etc in the future

Hi mate - Thanks for the kind comments!

Yeah I'd be up for that - drop me a private message or something and we can exchange details!

Just read your thread from start to finish, looks like you've put a lot of hard work & thought into your Disco, gives me some encouragement to give my 300tdi some love. Really good to see you enjoying your Disco in the mud & using it properly even after the hours you must have spent working on it

A great thread & what looks like a well sorted motor!!!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the read :)

Have you created a thread for yours?

When offroading and reaching the brow of an incline, I don't like not being able to see what's in front of me - Even after getting out, checking and getting back in your vehicle, someone could be on the way up the other side without you knowing (especially when it's busy). So my solution to this was to fit a camera on the front of my Disco facing slightly downward - this was I can see what's at the top of the hill with the camera before I can see it through the windscreen (Also I like gadgets).

I decided the best place to mount this was on the top of my winch control box - This way it shouldn't get knocked, and is right at the front of the vehicle so nothing should obstruct the view.

My existing screen has 2 inputs, so I will be connecting it to that.

2x holes for fixing bolts and 1x hole for cable.

Mounted - the idea is this is how it will be when I want to use it

And when I'm not using it, or driving on the road, I can protect it a little bit with this cover - I'm sure it's not the intended purpose but it seems to work quite well.

Cable tied out of the way - this gets powered from the same circuit as the reversing camera.

Disco all back in 1 piece.

Whilst i was there I also replaced the plug for my winch control - I had to buy a new one as I didn't have the controls on a lead - this is just a backup if the wireless dies.

Got a bit muddy today - it was loads of fun, though.

Funny how the rear is always clean

Had another expansion tank go pop (luckily I carry a spare) - not sure what is causing the high pressure, but I was going pretty hard today as it was very boggy.

Got a cool photo though

Also the clutch is on its way out.

Probably won't be taking it offroading for a couple of months now!

Looking very serious now!
Have you checked the small-bore coolant hoses coming from the top of the stat housing/ rad/ exp. tank and the 3 way valve? They allow the system pressure to vent into the exp tank when the coolant heats up. Mine were thick with sludge, probably radweld :(

That's a good suggestion!

I'll check those at the weekend.

Small update.

My rad has a hole in it where the electric fan was attached - I think it put it on too tight, as it has slowly rubbed a tiny, tiny hole in the core. So I need that reparing.

I've checked all of my water pipes, and they are all clear - I'm considering getting a metal header tank to solve the issues I have where the plastic ones keep going pop.

My clutch is on its way out, I believe I have made a small hole in the clutch fork, as sometimes it's OK and sometimes it hits the floor. I have similar symptoms when my clutch fork went in my last Disco - When I get this replaced, I can finally have my 1.4 ratio transfer box fitted too (about time, i've had it months). This will obviously improve gearing, as well as the strain on the engine which will hopefully help with my cooling.

One of my tyres has a leak around the bead, I think I got some sand in it a couple of months ago - so i need that cleaned and mounted.

I also learnt that a Disco with no roof liner + winter = a very, very wet roof.

So everything is a bit on hold at the moment, need some funds!

After neglecting my Disco for about 6 weeks now, today I set about "fixing" the hole in the radiator.

After some Googling, I came across JB weld. People have used this in the past to fix holes in radiators, so I thought i'd give it ago. If it doesn't last I'll have it fixed properly :)

So yesterday I cleaned up the area with the hole, dried it and put a big blob of JB weld in/on it. I also broke the fins off around it for better access.

You are meant to leave it 24 hours to set properly, I probably waited around 20 hours before fitting the rad back.

I started up the Disco and it hasn't leaked yet - I haven't been for a drive, so that will be the real test.

Hopefully in the week I can get the leaky tyre sorted, and perhaps in a couple of weeks the clutch.

I also gave the Disco another quick clean, as there was still some mud lingering from when I last took it out.
