Thinking that after the winter I may save wear and tear on my wheels/tyres/bearings etc by removing my 30mm wheel spacers and 285 mud terrains and fit some 18" Discovery2 wheels, after searching eBay I have seen theres lots of different wheel designs I could fit. Of course I will keep me muds for offroading and next winter etc

I have seen the adaptors needed on Rakeway.co.uk, what size wheels could I fit to mine for summer use? 18" or 20"?

Anyone done the swap and have any pictures of their D1 on D2 wheels?

Ta :D

Depends which ones will be best offroad?? Shirly.. Yu do take ya disco offroad don't ya?? Un I int just on about ya driveway or Waitrose carpark??

Yeah it does go offroad, it gets scratched on byways, dunked in fords, picks the kids up from school, takes me to weddings and pops to Tescos!

Was looking at the price of mud terrains when the time comes and working out how often I actually 'need' massive chunky tyres - thought it'd cause less wear and tear on the bearings, more availability on tyres and nicer to drive on more road biased wheels and tyres seeing as thats where it spends a higher percentage of its time!

Me personally I'd stick to 16" wheels and have 2 sets 1 with road biased tyres and one with Muds. It's what I do.

Yeah I wouldnt fancy 20" on a D1 fo sho, probably not even 18"

Get a set of zu rims with roadies on. Nice and light for economy :)

Your right, 20" is a tad big! Mind you some 18" Hurricanes would look pretty smart, maybe time for some photoshopppery!

To be honest i'd love to purchase a set of Zu wheels but the price outweighs the gain unless I could find some real cheap, some second hand D2 wheels and hub adaptors must come in cheaper surely....

Not to bling it up, just to tart it up for the summer - I dont like to be the same as everyone else and coming from a modified car background i'd like to have something thats tidy!

Wow a lot of nay sayers on here. Hell let them do what they want to their own Landy.

And putting D2 rims on a vehicle that to most people looks 95% the same is hardly blinging it up.

Afraid I can't help with pics, although in one of the Landy mags a few months back they had a met red D90 with some on and it looked good.

Yeah I think I saw that red 90.

I think hurricanes are a good shout, they're a classy wheel, not too bling.

I hear you about the zu, guess they are dear!

I have nothing against fitting hurricanes, give it a shot, it would be interesting at least to see how it drives on 18", probably exactly the same!!

Actually, I'd expect it to drive worse tbh.

There might be more ultimate grip, but there will be less compliance in the tyre side wall.

Yes there will be less tyre roll too, but in a Landy that's the lest of your worries. The axles are attached to the chassis via big squidgy rubber bushes, there's more than enough play in the rest of the setup to negate most if not all of the steering feel benefits of lower profile rubber.

That said, apart from maybe being a little more harsh riding, I can't see any negative affects to it.

Being honest I do tend to throw mine about, just that mud tyres are horrible to drive when its wet as I get masses of understeer, not to mention the fact theyre noisy!

If I could get away with a lower profile more road biased tyre for the spring and summer months then I would, I cant see me having to much problems on them when I do go laning. Although big wide mud tyres are all good when its up to its sump in mud theyre not as good when it comes to daily driver duties :D
