Hi, I have 03reg Disco TD5 with couple of problems, the first I think is fairly simple to solve the power steering is making very loud whining noises and sometimes the steering goes heavy when manoeuvring at low speeds I convinced it the steering pump on its way out, I've bled the system and checked for leaks, just need confirmation I'm on the right track before replacing the pump.
The second problem is the clutch peddle is very heavy to operate so i've now got one leg looking like its come from Arnee, i've replaced the slave and master cylinders and bled the system, do I have a knackered release plate or is this heavy clutch peddle normal?

We had a new clutch put in and it's still heavy and quite dead (not much feel) It's just the way they are it seems.

In fact I have built the clutch pedal up by around 15mm so it's easier to press down!

Thanks Guys, I didn't realise there was a return spring on the pedal I'll check it out next weekend what might be wrong with it does the spring harden over time?, same with the belt I've got a new one to go on so i'll give it a try but the noise doesn't sound like the screech of a slipping belt but its worth a try as it cheeper than a pump.
I'll give them a go and report back next week.

Have you checked the pas fluid level in the header? Have you checked the front tyre pressures?

The book says 27psi from memory but imo that it too low for the weight of this vehicle, I would suggest you try running them at at least 31psi.
