So my back windows havent worked for a long time so i thought i would do the solder repair as seen on youtube but it didnt work, So why do the windows need an ECU has anyone tried to directly wire them and bypass it ?

Why not connect them direct to a battery to check they do actually go up and down before getting more complicated?

Yes j had planned on trying that first, i was just wondering why they have an ECU and are not just directly wired ?

cos they go all the way down on a double click of the switch.
not sure, but they may monitor the current draw on return to top, and cut the power if they detect a restriction (like a hand sticking out of window). not verified this, and have no intention of trying it!

have you swapped the front switches (known working) for the rear (unknown working) and vice versa?
