Just in case it is the hand brake siezed. Take the rear prop shaft off. Should be able to drive or at least roll then. Will be a nice confirmation of what it is too. Tapping disk and being able to roll it may have been a coincidence.
 
Fixed! The garage that did the brakes came round and whipped off the disc to reveal a shorn off bolt head, which will be replaced along with four shiny new tyres on Wednesday. Guess I could have found that myself but I wouldn't have been able to drill out the bolt so whatever. Can't wait to get back on the road!
