make sure the rear brake drum aint a force fit into the alloy - if it is you will weaken the wheel, making them unsafe.

Oh yeah, make sure you use the correct wheel nuts also.

there y'are.

Isn't there different types of disco alloys you can get? My donor disco had compomotive alloys on, i seem to remember they had a different hub shape. I could be completely wrong though.

thanks guys, good info, will check out before going ahead. BOYDY, been reading your 300 conversion article, superb. i have a 1986 110 lt77/isuzu i'm gonna put in disco 300. only problem is i dont have old lr flywheel to use as you did. do i source a flywheel and go down same route you did or fit whole disco box/300 and fit a def r380 top linkage etc like i read on one of your other threads. i have access to complete disco. is it worth fitting disco axles or are they weaker? any advice appreciated cheers.

the 300 tdi flywheel is fine - its just the housing i swapped to make it go into the gearbox.

The existing tdi housing will fit, you jus gotta miss out a couple of studs.

Fitting the top linkage looks to be a gearbox in pieces job - stick with yours i would say.

Mine has both disco axles fitted, they will be 24 spine diffs which means less free play, and, depending on who you ask, a wee bit stronger.

Also means you get disc brakes, and both my axles were a bit past it anyway.
