I REALLY want them myself but can’t legitimise the spend at moment. That’s new exhaust, UJs, full tank plus dinner and my tyres are good :( I know when mine get bald I will regret not having them off him

He doesn’t want to bay them just thought they’d be nice for me

For anyone wondering out there Disco 2 and P38 wheels are interchangable they just bolt on.

If you want to fit D3 or L322 wheels (to D2/P38) you will NEED spigots and extra long wheel studs. Do not fit without spigots it is not safe

Some of the D2s had the smaller wheel studs, 24mm head? Cannot remember the years. In those instances you need the studs as well.

Hope whoever buys them realises they are illegal to use on the road on a P38. Speedo will read less than true speed. Just to add it is only illegal according to a copper or jobsworth with a speed gun, who seem keen on doing people for 1 mph over the limit in a 30 zone. They can actually only enforce this on cars made 2001 or up. ;):D

Depends how you drive IMO

I know if my clock says 30mph I am doing 31. - I test on those signs that flash your speed on screen if you go over. So I back off due to my wheels and therefore don’t go over legal speed. Motorways I have to back off 4/5mph as at clock 70mph I will be just over again bit more, about 72/3mph.

@55-65 on motorway you are safer than the idiots speeding past you then slamming their brakes on within your braking distance.

I’ve honestly never had a problem with 32’s and my ones are less road appropriate than above,

but I am in rural area.
I also have no points on my licence and have never been done speeding or otherwise in 19yrs so I drive different to most people.

Actually you are allowed + or - 10% error at 30 MPH. So that is between 27 and 33 MPH with 30 indicated on cars built before 2001. After 2001 a speedo can indicate 10% higher than true speed but never lower. Fixed speed cameras allowed for this but the dicks with speed guns will report you for 1 mph over. Ok but a bit pedantic if you drive a car made 2001 or later but they cannot do you for that speed in a car made before that date. Not a lot of people know that.

You would have to argue the +/- 10% after the fact at appeal :(

If you get an over zealous prick he can technically have you for wheel torques/pressures if he wanted. They gettin that way with lorries already

If I've got the sat-nav in the car I read my speed on that, as the speedo reads well over unless, those "slow down" signs are set under the limit,
i.e speedo reads 30 MPH sat-nav reads 27MPH and, the sign is telling me to slow down so, I think they are.

What size wheels do you have?

speedos are not .000mph accurate hence the 10% in practice. They are same system on sign as the guy/gal with the Gatso ,that will nab you, is why I compare. You can’t argue what was on satnav minute ago before they pulled you over. It will be zero when by then

Satellite is not as accurate as commonly conceived. Just google lorry driver follows satnav through building or get lost using sat nav youself. :D

Before ANPR the police vehicles had to follow and record you over a set % of the speed limit for a set distance iirc?
1/2mph over was dismissible then. My mate was a ROSPA but I’ve not seen him for years or I would ask.

With new cars speedo will read near as damn it 30 when doing 30 with new properly inflated tyres. As tyres wear speedo will read 30 but actual will be less. The + or - 10% at 30 mph comes from the days when the only speed limit in the UK was 30 mph in a built up area, everywhere else had no speed limit.

I will go by the speedo from now on then, as I've had a clean licence for 12 years now and, want to keep it that way:D

Think there had to be 2 of them in the car otherwise it was your word against his. Many years ago I was driving home in the middle of the night at [cough]ty miles per hour. I did notice some lights in the distance a long way back and after I came off the motorway I noticed they followed so I stuck to the limits. After a mile or so the blue lights lit up so I stopped. Lone copper, claimed I'd been way over the speed limit. I just said not according to my Speedo and he stared at me then after a pause said, get it fixed and walked away. Oh for the days before cameras everywhere.

Good point but I wouldn’t try and open P38 odometer. Well actually I probably would because I do stupid things like that out of curiosity. but you will be sorry. They have tamper device people have tried pulling them open get all sorts problems. Try not to if you can
