I'm looking at the top of the range Discovery with I think a 4.0 L engine it's on a V plate and at the moment is asking £4995, I have no intention of paying that much anyone suggest how much it might be worth. Oh and it is not fitted with a gas conversion.

Thanks,;) Andy.

2.5K is tops but only after you have borrowed it for a couple of weeks to find out how much coolant it uses, how much the sunroof's leak and how many bits and pieces dont work.:D

Ok it is tidy it doe's not look as if it has had a leak in its short life, and you still say two and a half?

Andy.

Yep the arse has completely collapsed out of the 4x4 and luxury car market especially for anything that is gonna get hammered by the new roadtax brackets

Bear in mind that on a V plate car it won't be subject to the road tax rise, had to be later than 01 Y for that.
Glass's guide says 2000 V with 79K is £2925 trade value as a 7 seat manual- Allow £200 more if auto and knock it £200-£300 if 5 seat as that'll make it harder for you to sell on after you've had it. I think the lads are right at £2500 - £3000 tops with full dealer history, everything working, no leaks and nice provenance ( not too many owners ). ;)

I know but it has had a knockon effect of forcing V reg prices down because 01/02 prices have dipped.

good luck.. someone with that much of a misconception of prices may be tough to bargain with... don't be afraid to walk away.. there are quite a few coming onto the market and it is worth waiting to get the right one at the right price...

£3300 taxed till end of this month and M.O.T till March gear leaver is a bit sloppy and a cracked exhaust manifold but it is a nice car and drives nice.

Andy.

i was looking for an es but didnt want a petrol kept getting offered them at around 2k for one with around 130k on even got offered one at 1500squid with 150k on these were all part exchange moters i just rang round the garages and asked if they had any discos!
ended up getting a 300tdi es 1995 for £1100 with 130k and privite plate!

Well I'm back in the fold and very much look forward to the fuel consumption, I'm disapointed in Land Rover for not allowing enough space begind the sills for a gas tank, my other option is to replace the main petrol tank with a gas tank, and have a small petrol tank, not keen on that idea though, however for the time being I'll live with her and repair the exhaust manifold, but oh what a lovely thing to drive.

Andy.:)

I have seen young TD5's for under £5000, and one for under £4000. But dealers still think there worth money.

Mines a V8 manual with Prins LPG fitted, i have to say i think it's great and i speak from experience in having run a few TD5's as well, manual and auto, i will only want to run V8 with LPG if i have the chance.
I get the equvalent of 30 mpg and 180 odd hp too, it doesn't compare for towing.
I hope you enjoy it
Dean :)

I haven't been far nor fast, but I stuck on cruise control at 60 and do I like oh hell yes, I can't use the arm rest I have to use the cubby box like I have for the last few years, if in time I change it I will get a TD5 but I'm not thinking about that for a long time, see what she's like with the caravan next year.:)

she will be brilliant... I can't get over how much easier it is to tow with this than with any other car.. and I have towed with cars, MPV's (big and little) and this even beats the nissan terrano which I thought was an amazing improvement..

Anything will be an improvment on my last Disco, quite frankly it was ****, she'd look at a hill and tell me straight it wasn't a good idea, pull couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Then when things started going wrong I told her your going, and she went, oh boy did I make a mistake. I think this one now has been looked after just needs a manifold.

Andy.:)

I reckon that might be a weak point in these :D mine is welded up but missing a couple of studs (one each I think Boomer said when he had a look) so needs to be taken off and sorted before the MOT in january... had to get used to kick down on hills as it wasn't... but I worked out that I needed to do it rather than wait for it to do itself.. or use cruise which seems to react very quickly to gradient.... so will carry on regardless now I've got the hang of it
