Has anyone ever had their steering box not behave intermittently?

i done a mud recovery for a mate, dragging him out...Then when im driving one minute there is resistance when turning and if i let go of the wheel, it will fly back straight wether it be left or right...then for a minute be perfect, then turn or change lane, again resistance & literally wants to fly the wheel straight. I have checked the steering bars, there straight as a die.

Then i heard loud clunking as i slowed to a stop. Then when i got the corner, it wouldnt do a right turn! i managed to go round the block left an then i could turn right again!...then further down the road, it wouldnt let me turn right again, i forced it! heard a few clunks an it free'd up again! then drive perfect for a min or 2, an then same again! ‍‍

There are two UJ's to check on the steering column, the lower one is hidden away under the intercooler metal pipe. Lavish them in WD40...

checked everything i could, beleive it or not... long story short, its the diff! Lost some teeth on the front diff...Cant beleive it made the car react the way it was, how it felt like it was affecting the drive to the wheels inadvertantly affecting the steering!
