Hi everyone, just had the ace light pop up. Had a look around and iv got a small hole in the flexi pipe on the rear. Is there anything you could recommend as a diy fix?

Cheers
Dave

I've got a leak from the front actuator which can be replaced and restore the system but I beleive if it's pipe work probs it's a case of replacing the pipe work as a whole or scrapping the ace system and going for a standard anti roll bar set up which is a lot less £££ :-(

u can replace the pipe yourself if you've got it(improvisations might not work cos there are 135bar... make sure you dont drive it without oil in the tank cos you'll ruin the pump in no time(you can use cheap ATF untill you fix it)

Think il go with taking it out all together, its been converted from air to springs already so suppose the ace is not doing anything anyway. Just seen a post somewhere as a diy job.. think its was hydrollic tubing and some compression clamps should of asked what sizes and the how to.

one thing after another :(
Cheers for the reply

I have driven TD5's with and without ACE. The cars without ACE were A.std from factory & B.modified (ACE removed) versions.

The ACE equipped cars are the best for on-road driving, but the std non-ACE & modified cars were not that far behind and not at all roly-poly like the Jap and German 4x4's.

Of the two non ACE cars, I found the modified car to be the best. I can't explain why, perhaps it was in better shape suspension and bushes - wise, but if the ACE on my DII was causing me grief I would remove it and fit std arb's without a moments hesitation.

I'm sure if my problem extended to poor condition pipe work I'd do the same, but as its only the actuator and a couple of bushes I'll keep for the mo :)

i agree with thebiglad. I've had TD5's with and without. There's definitely a difference for the better as regards road handling with an ACE fitted car, but it isn't that dramatic and non-ACE fitted vehicles are still pretty good and take those bends without issue.

If you've got it, I think you're right to keep it, but when it becomes financially not viable, you won't loose that much.

Hello again, very urgent - - - please
I have now sealed the ace leak on the block the best I can.I began to refill the reservoir but as the oil reached the top it would go no further! Obviously there is air in the system.Besides having to take the fan belt off to get to the pump, is there an easier way to bleed the system? I would take it for a short drive but the RED light comes on immediately together with the warning tone! Any help much appreciated!
Is there an easier way to bleed the ace system other than having to take the drive belt off?

no need for tester, undo partially the outlet banjo on the pump and turn the pump by hand untill you see fluid there that's VERY important, then tighten it back and start the engine, if it's primed you'll see the fluid circulating in the tank, if it's steady undo the bolt again asnd insist...when the fluid is well circulating in the tank go for a harsh ride with lots of cornering at as high speed as you can to be safe... top up te fluid after every mile...it will bleed itself this way... check the level periodically untill it's steady cos it might take a while depends on how much the ACE will activate the rear actuator... go to some surface where flexing is involved that will help things...just make sure the fluid is always circulating in the tank tjat's the most important otherwise you can kill the pump...this pump priming thing is compulsory even if you use the tester but the tester will do exacly what the system does when it works in the field if you see what i mean

He asked if there was a way of bleeding the system WITHOUT removing the fan belt.

Dave

no other way than i described or the pump will fail... if the belt is so hard to remove(which is not) the connector from the injector loom can be unplugged and somebody to crank it untill the oil comes out at the pump's outlet...it's possible this eay too

Very urgent!!! 199 TD5. Hi! After monthsand months of leaking ace Problems i.e Leaking block and pipes. I have now recieved the Kit for replacing this bloody System.I have found a mechanic here in Germany who will try to sort this out for me but!!! Where can I find clear instructions as to what must be done? I have look almost verywere but cannot find the helpI need! I would have scrapped it except for the fact that last year I replaced the engine with a new one!

Before we start on the installation, can you list accurately all the parts that came in the kit, to ensure you have everything?
