hi i have done live data it cut the fuel to limp mode at about 230 +kpa but ambient temp isnt reading the same at tick over like some one said it should do ????

Well if its going over 230Kpa it IS overboost - that has to be a physical fault with the turbo/wastegate etc if you are running with the boost modulator solenoid out of the circuit.Try disconnecting the wastegate and jam it in the open position then do some live data - see what it gets up to then.

hi ive done that today and its gutt less and no power and smokes alot so the waste gate works thanks for your idea

Mate, I have a TD5 110 2001. It's doing my F....ing head in!!! Yours sounds a lot worse though.
Hope someone gets to the bottom of it, I really do. Wish I stuck with my 200tdi, never had any problems...

Ive got a similar issue with a TD5 Defender (2000), Ive tried a few fixes and have fitted a boost gauge to assist with elimination process...

Do you guys have a snorkel fitted by any chance?

i had the same issue with my 2001 disco, in the end the wastegate disc had got sloppy on the arm inside the turbo and caught sometimes. i looked to get it sorted and needed the car on the road asap so bought a brand new one.
sorted my overboosting out straight away.
to remove the turbo is really easy.
3 nuts/bolts on the heat shield,
3 nuts on the turbo to manifold,
3 nuts on the turbo to exhaust,
1 on the oil feed,
2 on the oil return.

about 30mins - 1 hour to remove

it just stopped on its own but it has a differant turbo on it now and yes got snorkel fitted i tried loads of stuff look through this post it shows wat i did but its probably turbo issue if you have done every thing else i e turbo pipes airflow meter boost contol valve turbo waste gate arm waste gate itself checked no pin holes any wer in pipes or collapsing intercooler pipes i renewed everything but still done it then one day it just went on its own but fitted a new turbo as the arm spinned all the way around on mine hope this helps good luck
