List of jobs apart from routine servicing that I need to do are:

Fit new Gear Bias plate and new leathers. Cant get bits for this weekend
Sort out 60mph rumbling. Pain in the arse to drive on motorway. Need to sort out what I need so prob after gear bias work
Fix rear door mech as can only open from inside.
Rear right door lock is sticky..have to press buttons a few time on and off for it to work.
Oil change
check other lubes
Remove prev owners company logos from roof! Of all the daft places! Covers half the roof.
Remove shadow of prev company details from bodywork
Polish out scratches all over the bloody place
Take out Land Rover cd/radio. Being a bitch and it doesnt want to come out. Four hole key version. I have a DAB radio to go in there.
Brighter headlamps needed if poss?

And loads of stuff I havent come across yet!

These two,

You may find a liberal dose of WD40 into the mechanism from the outside, iirc you can pop the logo off, but if you do a google search for "D2 tailgate lock". I am sure it will chuck up the details of how to lubricate it.
The rear door sounds like an actuator, I had mine fail completely and I changed it for a cheap 2nd hand one. it is still sticky when it is cold.

Can't comment on the bias plate, but others have done it. The gaiters are available as a set of three on the bay.

We've spoken about that already, you'll have to get out and get under.

Is that a rear passenger's door or the tailgate? If it's the tailgate, first try popping out the green ova badge and lubricate and work the lever system. If it's a rear passenger's door then sadly it's usually a new mechanism. They're almost impossible to open up.

Oil change
Don't forget to do the filters too. You ca get kits on the bay for under 20 quid.
check other lubes

Take out Land Rover cd/radio. Being a bitch and it doesnt want to come out. Four hole key version. I have a DAB radio to go in there.
That job can be a bit of a PITA. The usual thing that sticks over time is the rubber anti-vibration mount at the back. Once the keys are properly in place you're going to have to apply a good pull usually by sticking your fingers in the tape slot.

Brighter headlamps needed if poss?
Headlamp bulbs can discolour with age. Replace them with "Osram Nightbreakers 130%" or "Phillips X-treme +120%"

Just tried the WD40 on the tailgate but still no good. So I'll have to get in the door and have a play.
Radio is a cd so no room for fingers but if it is supposed to come out with the keys then I will get it out!

I do need to buy a trolley jack and axle stands and chocks so I can have a butchers underneath. Any recs or advice?
 
You do have a set of chocks with the vehicle for jacking purposes.
I personally like a concrete block, not much chance of getting a runaway over them.

Trolley jack, I use a 3 tonne unit which does the job nicely. Just check you get one with a high enough lift.

Axle stands I use a set of these.
Silverline 763620.........Just make sure they are engaged correctly, and DO NOT get your hand pinched by the head when you undo the ratchet...Ouch.

Thanks for jack and axle stand recs.
Just been out for a drive and the disturbance at 60mph feels a tad better. This is a worry for me. Intermittent things are bad!
On the plus side I have removed the bitch of a radio. Didn't have a big hammer but I had a very persuasive screwdriver. So newer unit now fitted and sounding lovely. Just need to pick up a DAB aerial (I might be able to make the old one work but it's stuck to a windscreen) and run the cable somehow.

Have you by chance read up on the oil pump bolt yet? Also, did you get the info about the EKA?

:) and just driving home i think it's worse again! I havent looked at Oil pump bolt but will shortly. As for EKA I will get the garage to put the diagnostics back on and let me have it. Have you fallen foul of the EKA thing then?

No, but I have come across a lot of people who suddenly find their fob does not work, then they are stuck if they do not have the EKA.
For a simple thing it can cause a lot of hassle. It is easy to get so it is crazy not to have it if you ever need it.
The Oil pump bolt is also a small thing but it can ruin your day for what is a cheap and easy to do check / change. Especially if you are doing an oil change.
HAve you checked your red plug?

Cheers fella...so now I'm filled with dread and just want to get the bolt and the plug done. I'm going to do an oil change on Sunday and do the bolt at the same time. So I need to get a jack and some stands and I'll start making a list of tools that I might need. Cant buy everything at once. I might be able to use a concrete and brick ramp that is local to here save the jack and stands. Would rather do it at home though.
 
Sorry, But would rather you had the info. Bolt can be sourced in lots of places, iirc the part number is listed in that link to the D2 website. I would recommend doing it at home, somewhere you can take a breather and not try to rush the job.

As a word of warning, make sure the crossmember can be unbolted first. Mine was welded in place......:eek::eek:

I used a grinder to cut off what i could, then I got angry.........LOL, I did refit using nuts and bolts.

I used an aftermarket gasket, also do not forget the sealant and you will require rags for cleaning and cleaner , I use brake and clutch fluid.
I also printed out the Discovery2 pages and kept them handy as a cheat sheet.
