neighbours td5 selects gears fine but there is no bite point or drive.
will select H but not L on transfer box.
does this sound like a transfer box fault?

anyone recommend a garage near dronfield, North east derbyshire

Are you 100% sure that the transfer box is fully engaged ?? The fact you can’t get into L suggests the linkage is seized up through lack of use.
 
Does it have the diff lock position? I know some do and some dont.
If so try putting it in there.

If not put it in gear and look underneath see if either prop is turning.

If not suspect clutch.
