every time i use press the hdc button it just bongs constantly. LOW box, clutch not depressed, do i need to actually be on a hill before it wil work? i dont get any hdc warnings on start up and the light goes off on start up after a few seconds. any ideas?

why do you want it to work if yer not on a hill?Wot are you expecting it to do?

i just want to make sure that it actually works before i get to a hill and find that it doesnt. i traded a defender for it so im not bothered really if it doesn't just use engine braking, just wanted to make sure that all td5's bong on a flat.

yeah, i just wanted to make sure that it worked. traction control does tend to do that eh.

HDC on my TD5 bongs and flashing dashboard light when selected in high ratio but no bongs and steady light when in low.

I don't think the flat or sloping ground has anything to do with it.

Sounds like it's not working correctly, to me.

and what does it do in 'high range'?

I recall seeing somewhere that they got it the wrong way round on some cars!

it just bongs all the time, in any mode. clutch engaged disengaged, high, low brake, handbrake. everything. i do get a whirring noise when the traction control works but i assumed that was normal. linked do you think?
maybe a problem with the hub sensors?

definitely something wrong. It should only bong when you engage and disengage.

by the sounds of it, could definitely be the sensors.
