I'm new to this site & just finding my way round to get some help with my Disco TD5.
The engine cut out while driving along at 60mph, as though it had run out of fuel & the fuel pump was making a lot of noise "air in system" when I tried to restart, I did get it running but with a misfire and only drove for 300yds, arrived home on the back of a recovery truck!
Since then I have fitted 2 new fuel pumps "first one faulty" had the injectors re sealed at Gee Diesels in Nottingham they quoted me £800 to fit a new engine wiring loom! so I fitted a new injector and engine wiring loom/harness, replaced the O ring seals in the filter housing connections. The engine will start after purging the fuel system and with a lot of cracking on the starter but misfires and cuts out after 2/3 minuets and wont restart until the fuel system has been purged again and a lot of cranking on the starter. I am at a loss any ideas?
