I don't know why this has been so difficult but deciding on a battery for the D2 seems to be an impossible task. I have measured the battery tray and get L: 330mm, W: 165mm, H: 240-260. The old battery was the wrong one (previous owner had AA out who gave him a 300TDI battery).

My local independent land rover garage use Yuasa 640SHD batteries (115aH; 1000CCA) but these are advertised as being 171mm wide. Are the batteries not meant to sit in the bottom of the tray?

Another one I have looked at is : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/664-High-...ery/282217381101?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144
but again width is 172mm.

I had a battery from Tayna, that was recommended for a D2.

Might have been this one , not sure.......

I did have to dremmel a few areas on the bottom of the tray, as the battery picture showed it had a slight recess on the bottom 10mm edge, but the actual battery did not.

Cheers

Cheers neilly, first review on that site says "Good quality battery fits my landrover discovery 2 td5 like a glove You won't be disappointed superior quality"!

And the width stated for that one is 175mm!

THis is the one I have which dropped straight in.

I would have got it from Tayna as I work a couple of miles away. A few years old now.

I used the enduroline neilly mentioned it was a perfect fit! The bullet one was same specs but cheaper. Hoping the enduroline is worth the extra 30 quid though haha

IMO it doesnt... this small difference is all about a known brand and an unknown one.... which in many cases can be better :)

+1 ^^^^^^^
Very often such products are all manufactured in a small number of factories to a standard design and specification then the various sellers just put their own branding on it. Did you not notice that the branding is nothing more than a sheet of sticky plastic on the sides?

Well when I asked everyone said the first; after I brought it then they mentioned the cheaper one! Bit late then though :p
It does seem good quality though haven't seen the cheaper one.

Kinda does

1st reply said Tanya granted didn't say first said tanya went on found that then after brought few hours later bullet bat mentioned....

Cheers for the blast to the past though!

  1. Looked on Tanya batteries cheers for info they have one using the proper part number looks perfect fit. Most others in amp range were edge rarther than middle terminals and didn't look like cables would reach. https://www.tayna.co.uk/YGD100860-Enduroline-Battery-For-Land-Rover-P9073.html
